A sure bet that will rarely disappoint!
Café Rimon, like Caffit, is a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or for grabbing a hot or cold drink and catching up with friends or reading or even a business deal. It lends itself to all of these environs as good or better than an average Starbucks but, also boasts a wonderful menu that will please a picky palate for any meal.
Also like Caffit and Starbucks, Cafe Rimon has locations throughout Israel, For this blog, I will focus on my favorite location in the Mamilla mall. This hybrid indoor/outdoor location lends itself to warm nights in the winter and stunning sunsets in the summer. If you are lucky enough to score one of the outdoor couches to eat, you might sink into the seat with your meal and never leave.
The service is always good. A gaggle of young, post army – pre college girls (some boys) that will work hard for an extra tip and dream about their mark they will make in the world will serve you when your particular item is ready, not necessarily when the table’s order is complete. That is something to work on. When the food does arrive, however, you will be treated to fresh, dairy, delicious food that is quintessentially Israeli and scrumptious.
Categories range from pizzas to salads to toasts (melts in our parlance) and pastas. Frankly, I have never ordered a bad meal here. Each item is tasty. The portions are enormous. Whether pasta or salad, each entrée can feed two people easily. The vegetables are so fresh they will talk back to you, and the desserts, being dairy are not worth skipping – even when Golda ice cream beckons just down the road.
It is hard for me to laser in on two to three items. All are great. But, these are just a few of my favorites: The bagel toast, the Asian salad, the ravioli and the pappardelle with broccoli. The cauliflower (seasonal) appetizer is worth sharing as well.
This is a perfect place for a meal that will not break the bank or your belly and leave you wanting to come back and try new and more things. Rimon is a winner in every category!
