Gelato Variegato is a very special place!

Everyone has one gift they offer to the world. Pope Francis offers inspiration and spirituality to millions of Catholics. Lebron James does magic with the basket ball. Meryl Streep is mesmerizing behind the camera. My gift to the world is recognizing delicious ice cream. Today, I am pleased to share this gift with all of you. Especially in light of the latest intolerance (not lactose) of Ben and Jerrys in Israel, Gelato Variegato is a welcome change.

This is not your classic Katzefet or Aldo. This place uses the classic Italian techniques of hand crafted sherbets, sorbets and gelatos with funky tastes and unique mixtures that explode in your mouth. For example, I had the goats milk yogurt that was topped with zatar and hyssop. It was incredible!! There was original pistachio with crumbled nuts on top of the cone and even a sweet guava sorbet made only from natural fruits and ice. If cones are not your thing, you can try one of their signature eclairs that are dainty, fragile and melts in your mouth!

This is not your Bubbies ice cream parlor. It is no 31 flavors or Dairy Queen but this place on Azza and HaAri in Rechavia is well worth the experience. In fact, when I tasted the ice cream, I said, Gelato, Variegato, Vehigiyanu Lazman Hazeh!

Enjoy!!
