If so, this restaurant needs a new name.

Rendezvous, located in Talpiot on the corner of Derech Beit Lechem and Rivkah is a pizza joint, that hasn’t been updated in eons. They specialize in pizza and salads and some lovely desserts.

We walked in on a random 9-day dairy searching afternoon and the joint was empty. Sadly, that was telling. The service was shvach and the ambience was lacking. We sat outside because it was cooler with the breeze than eating inside with no a/c.

The pizzas are all hand rolled and made. We tried a basic margherita and a cheeseless veggie for my lactose challenged companion.

The pizza was fine. Maybe even good. Not remarkable in any way. It was a far cry from France (which is the faux-feel on the menu) and even further from Italy in the tastes. But one must realize how hard it is to truly mess up a pizza.

The desserts were unexceptional too. I had a scoop of ice cream that was more whipped cream than chocolate and the ice cream was ehh. While served from a Ben and Jerry’s cooler, it was decidedly not that brand. They had many desserts in the showcase, but all were the same. Crème brûlée (without a caramalized crust) and which should have been called crime brûlée. The lemon meringue pie that was clearly imported from a bakery seemed store bought.

I don’t think I’ll be rendezvous-ing any time soon to this eatery. Not sure if you should either.
