D’Vora is the bees knees!

The wiser and more sophisticated sister of Malka, D’vorah is the bees knees!

Eyal Shani knocked the skin off the tomato again, with this kosher masterpiece in North Tel Aviv.

Located inside the Deborah Brown Hotel is this open kitchen experience which is a feast for all the senses.

On first glance, you know this is Eyal’s place by the simple butcher paper place mats and the tomato’s strewn throughout.

The staff was attentive and quick. Service was 10/10. While the help dressed casually, they knew their business, making awesome reccomendations and even warning when ordering too much, as if that is even possible.

This was a family meal thus we ordered many dishes, family style.

We started with the Nablus beans. Much like the Jericho beans at Malkah, they are the best thing happening in this city since Meir Dizengoff opened his art museum.

You might wonder what they difference between Jericho and Nablus beans are. I did. Well, simply explained, one is harvested in Jericho and the other Nablus. You can guess which one is which.

Regardless, we ordered seconds of this specialty.

We then moved to the ahi tuna sashimi which was perfection. Melted in your mouth. The focaccia with tomato gazpacho had the perfect ratio of spice to kick. The roast beef carpaccio was exquisite and the eggplant had not a hint of bitterness or tahini offering a different and refreshing flavor for Israel.

We shared the dinosaur steak, (short ribs) entrecôte, hangar steak, lamb chops and lamb ragout. We were in total disagreement as to which one was best but all swore by our choices. Personally, the dinosaur ribs won for me, but this was a tough call. Every meat was grilled to perfection and served rustic with fresh vegetables in a fantastic balanced vinaigrette. The lamb ragout was al dente and on a different level.

The presentation of each dish was a meal for the eyes.

For dessert we enjoyed the bread pudding, chocolate mouse and apricot crumble, all served on cardboard pizza slice holders with insanely delicious and unbelievably pareve, whipped cream. Again, we differed on faves . Cousin Dan and Eve’s boyfriend Alex, said bread pudding I said mousse and Eve and Dori said crumble.

Not cheap, yet worth every penny.

This is a top 3 in Tel Aviv and top 6 in all of Israel restaurant for me. Get here and enjoy the honey of D’vorah!
