Fuddruckers meets Bennigans for Yeshiva boys.

Hatch is a brewery and eatery that puts equal energy into both endeavors. Admittedly, I am not a hops or beer guy. However, I am a food guy and, Hatch has good eats.

Most of the fare at Hatch is classic bar food that goes well with the cocktails and kegs on tap. Varieties of wings, fried macaroni and cheese balls smothered in pareve cheese and topped with taco beef and scallion is fantastic. Even my partner who usually steers clear of the fried food has seconds of the fried appetizer.

I chose the garlic-parmesan wings and admittedly, made the wrong choice. My instincts told me to choose the regular wings but my longing for dairy (albeit, pareve) and chicken won the day. Still, while messy it was good. The wet wipes were a necessity - and there were plenty.

I had the Korean beef sandwich which was superb! Very tasty and flavorful. My other partner (son) who was stuffed from a meal at another establishment ate half of the sandwich because he could not put it down.

The people next to me from somewhere in western Europe had a plate piled waist-high of wings and they ate every last one. They claimed that it was one of their best meals in Israel and the beer was delicious too.

Two things caught my attention about this place: It is packed with an eclectic crowd. Yeshiva boys and tattooed, short-short girls were both enjoying the location and the throngs of people were pouring out into the food bazaar of the shuk. Second, there was a small issue with my order and the management apologized. Something very UNIsraeli, and welcome.

The dreamers of this place have ‘Hatch’ ed a great place with yummy food. Get there soon and beat the crowds. It is worth the journey.
