Perfect location. Breathtaking views. Meh on the eats!

Rarely a day passes for me in Jerusalem that I do not stop in my steps, look up at the view and breath in the air while marveling at the majesty and miracle of this place.

If you want that feeling while eating, Kedma is the place. The food is good. It becomes better from the views. Located on the top of the Mamilla mall, the views overlooking the old city walls and the Jaffa gate are simply breathtaking. If you are there for sunset, it will be worth the price of the most expensive item on the menu.

Kedma made its name as a nice restaurant that specialized in corned beef and burgers. The only problem is that the many tourists that dined there didn’t want to eat burgers and corned beef in Israel. They wanted some of the other unique dishes that Israel offers. While still on the menu, it is not their go to dish.

The steak is good there, but good is the operative word. The chicken is done well, too. Again, most people that eat at Kedma will delight on the view and the ambience more than the menu but, it is a good compromise. I am fond of the spiced kebabs. It is a very kid friendly location (yummy schnitzel and chips) and has multiple spaces for private events.

Kedma offers outdoor space in the summer months and the same space is covered and heated for the winter. They know their end is met from the views, so they make it happen 24/6.

The service has always been mediocre, leaning towards good, like the food itself.

I will see you at Kedma, you will be the one with an almost clean plate and asking the waits staff to take pictures for you!
