Roladin
One of the greatest influences of Western Europe on the State of Israel is the coffee café. Only lately, has America gone long on the coffee house and its value for a light bite, delicious, caffeinated drinks catching up with one’s self or others.
One place that excels in this arena is Roladin. With more than 16 locations nationwide and almost 35 years of experience, Roladin has good coffee but exceptional desserts and is classy enough to host any celebration or gathering.
These are not just chocolate sweets. The confectionary offerings at Roladin are particular, dainty and stunningly beautiful. Each one an individual masterpiece, so much so that it can feel criminal to take a bite out of it.
One of my favorite times in Israel is Hanukkah and no one does the sufganiyot (doughnut) game better than Roladin. They do not bring a simple powdered jam filled fried dough. These are stunning treats filled with great mixtures of jellies, jams, preserves, marmalades, spreads, sweetness and each is a real work of art.
These sufganiyot are so sweet and decadent, I can rarely eat more than one. I doubt Homer Simpson could either! But its tastes last a long time.
The light food fare and lunches, brunches and dinner that Roladin offer are good, but not notable. Roladin’s edge is in the up-scale, elite confectionary game.
