A nice restaurant where the views trump the food!

Touro reminds me of Kedma, not in menu or taste, but in a restaurant that has views that compete with the menu.

Touro is perfect for small parties and gathering of 20-40 people and centrally located in Yemin Moshe, just a few steps down from the Montefiore’s Windmill with stunning views of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Sultan’s Pool. If facing east, the gardens of Yemin Moshe are lush and beautiful. If facing west, the old city will awe you, still. Rarely will you make your way down for an early dinner and not come across a few brides taking pictures before the nuptials.

The food is good. In fact, very good. But no one chooses Touro ONLY for the food. When you do happen on this place, I would recommend the smoked eggplant. Made perfectly and for the discerning palate, it has a nice blend of spices and tehina to make it all work when it meets your mouth. The chicken breast and the pargit are both very tasty. Simple with Mediterranean flavors, you will not go wrong with either. The London broil (tlialah) is fantastic. Layered on top of baked potatoes and served with a well made chimichurri sauce, this steak is not to be overlooked when ordering.

The desserts are fine. Just fine. But they all taste better when sipping some nana-mint tea and watching the sun glimmer over the walls of the ancient city and better understanding why this is called the City of Gold. The steps up from Touro through Yemin Moshe mitigate all caloric intake, so order seconds on the sorbet!
