Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog!
Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog………..this nook that occupies the former home of Pepitos also occupies its vibe. It is small yet, the three person staff blast the music and are having fun, regardless of what you order or think of their food. Lucky for them it is delicious!
This place specializes in hot dogs and even offer a kosher corn dog. After all, we can always use more meats on a stick in this country! The polenta deep fried delicacy made me feel like I was part of the common folk at a county fair in Iowa! They boast their own dog, the Bowero, that is hand made with a special blend of spices. I tried it and it was up to the hype. A foot long, quite thick and robust in its taste and topped with a toasted bun and a mix of chimichurri, onions and pickles, this dog could win Westminster!
Some other fun options include the slices of sausage and fries, known as the mix and chips. Creative!
In addition to the sausages, they have an assortment of deli sandwiches - most of which are offered on a panini press - that make Zalman’s a great option for a quick and hearty meat bite!
Like its predecessor in location, this filled the belly without breaking the bank. Next time my, ahem, ‘dogs are barking’ I am eager to head back to this place and take these pups for a walk!
