Anything else is just an im-pasta!

Pasta and Pizza are go-to staples that we all need to have. Fiori in Jerusalem is one of those places. Found on the Rakevet line in the revamped First Station, Fiori offers indoor and outdoor dining.

The premise is simple for pasta, which is their main dish: Pick one of 12 varieties of pasta. Choose one of 6 sauces and you can choose additional ingredients from cheeses, mushrooms to fish and capers, (for an edition all cost). The pasta is always served al dente. I have not confirmed if that is an Italian design or an uneducated chef who does not know when the noodle is done. I am leaning towards the latter. Though the pastas are fine and the sauces good too.

Pizza is also available with some salads too. The Pizza is made fresh and quite delicious, though I am not sure it is the place I would go if craving some Italian pie.

The service at the Rakevet is ok, at best. Usually a gaggle of kids working jobs to make ends meet with little of their heart in their work. Do not expect to be waited on hand and foot, nor to have your plates cleaned quickly, or even your order taken until you summon the waiters.

Overall though, it is a solid meal. For tourists with finicky kids it is perfect. Loads of pastas and pizzas that all kids like – and adults do too. The portions are reasonable as is the price.

Fiori might be Italian for Fine……just fine…..(I know it is not Italian for ‘fine’).
