A quaint space with delightful fare and a uniquely Libyan spirit and fresh flowers.

Ra’ani is the namesake of the owner of this Libyan inspired diner on the hopping pedestrian walkway known as the First Station, in Jerusalem. Nestled next to the thinkers store, Gaya and the pasta station, Fiori, this simple dairy restaurant with a lovely menu of fish, salads, breakfast fare and some sweet- treats is quaint and lovely.

We dined for breakfast and had the traditional brunch eggs and salads. It was served with much appeal from a delightful waiter who knew his trade and took pride in his work and the family heritage of the location. He made sure to tell us that Ra’ani was more than a name - it was a spirit and an ethic. He explained a phrase in Libyan that loosely translated to, ‘the customers’ satisfaction is the owners greatest reward and delight.’ That was obvious from his disposition. The food was quite tasty, and the pesto was the best I have tasted in Israel. The focaccia was home made and cooked and equally delicious. Were we to try it for dinner, we would venture towards some of the spicier fish that has earned rave reviews from trusted palates.

Another nice thing about this place, are the lovely and freshly picked bouquet of flowers for sale every day of the week, not just on Shabbat!

There is no QME - Qualitative Meal Edge - at this place, (IYKYK). Still, it was tasty and lovely. I am not pining to go back and try more, yet I have no regrets and would recommend it to others quickly.

I hope you try this lovely new establishment and celebrate its spirit and Libyan influence and the family run values that permeate throughout! Enjoy!
