Nino is a NoNo for me!

I’m not sure if the Jewish people embrace the idea of reincarnation. But in Israeli eateries, it is a regularly observed phenomenon.

At the resting place of what was known as Roza, on the corner of Emek Refaim and Rachel Immeinu, Nino was born.

At this restaurant which maintains much of the same space (though no outdoor space - like Roza enjoyed) the best of Roza departed and a few of its dishes and lesser liked eats are still breathing life.

The menu has many of the same items that Roza mastered (Pargit with spiced rice and entrecôte) but Nino was missing that special something that made it delicious.

My family had a burger that was medium in the way it was cooked and it how it tasted. A big fat meh-burger. My wife and daughter had spaghetti with steak, which in and of itself is a strange combination. The sauce was not a marinara but more of a BBQ sauce that was far too tangy and was not the right mix of ingredients. My boy’s steak was good but small and smothered in balsamic that bled over from the drenched green beans.

I went with the “Roza” tried and true pargit with rice. It was more tired than tried and not so true in its taste.

The service was slow, the restaurant was empty and the only saving grace was the apple and lemon meringue pies which sweetened an otherwise mediocre meal.

In its defense, the appetizers were better. The Focaccia with assado and mixed salad with steak gave us hope. Sadly, the life support was pulled by the time the entrees came out.

Also, this experience was not cheap. For prices like this, I need to be woken from the dead, not put to bed.

In my humble opinion, Nino is a big No No!
